-derulati campania in comunitatea in care activati, intre 28 februarie si 5 martie 2011

Buna ziua all,
so, as usual, I will not hurt anyone with my horrible control of the Romanian language – but I would encourage folks to help us think creatively about how to get people online. There are millions of Romanians who have never experienced the internet. Of course there is the question, do they need to? Why? Does my bunica need facebook? Or viagra emails? Of course there are things none of us need from online but on the other hand, we take it for granted as a tool to communicate, build partnerships, meet great people etc… And there are ways in which we can do much more that the bunica might need – e-governence, e-services, skype with her grand kids, figure out NGOs who might help her have a more fun Friday night. Whatever. So, do think about it, and see if you can’t get one person online – just one. And tell us about it. I remember one time my 95 year old grandpa was asking me about google – what is this all about, why is it so big, blah blah blah and it was hard to explain the value of search engines in my life. And then the conversation moved on. After a while we were talking about tomatoes and he said, you know, there was this tomato that I used to love but it is hard to find. I can’t remember the name… Really, can you describe it? Sure… it was big and red and had yellow stripes and… ok ok… just a sec… google it and BAM! There it is. Like a line up of criminal suspects – tomato number 2. That is one thing the internet is all about – free access to information. Score? Chris and the internet 2, Grandpa 1 (he still gets one because at least he found the name of the tomato).
So, again, be creative, use the portal so we can track this and help us get some people online!
cheers – and email us if you have questions or ideas we can help facilitate.
